Chinese Edible Oil Industry
China is the largest country of the edible oil consumption and the leading country of the demand of oil crops. Though China is also one of the leading producing countries of the rapeseed, peanut and bean in the world, the steady increase in the demand for edible oil and oil crops compel China to import more edible oil and oil crops. It forecasts that in the year of 2007/2008 China import 32,200,000 ton oil crops, which include 31,500,000 ton beans and 750000 ton rapeseeds, in the same time, the Chinese yield of oil crops will reach 57,000,000 ton, which includes 14,800,000 ton beans, 12,000,000 rapeseeds, 15,000,000 ton peanuts and 11,880,000 ton cottonseed. Besides the large import of oil crops, the import of edible oil also continuously rising. It forecasts that in the year of 2007/2008 China import 9,090,000 ton edible oil, which include 2,900,000 ton bean oil, 5,900,000 palm oil and 250,000 colza oil, in the same time, the Chinese yield of edible oil will reach 15,960,000 ton. According to the official statistic data of edible oil consumption, since 2002 the consumption of edible oil keep the about 10% increase and till 2010 the consumption will reach 35,000,000 ton. In a word, Chinese market is the noticeable and remarkable market for the manufacturers of equipment and technology of edible oil.

At present, soybean oil, corn oil, colza oil, peanut oil, cottonseed oil, sunflower oil, concoction oil and salad oil are the main types of edible oil in China's market and most bottles and plastic buckets of edible oil are for sale in Chinese market. In the recent years more people pay more attention to the nutrition and health edible oil, so some special type, health and functional edible oil are flooding in China's market, for example, olive oil, camellia oil, grape seed oil, safflower seed oil, nucleolus oil, almond oil, avocado oil, amaranth oil and so on.
