According to the results of 2007 the gross domestic product of the country has grown to 9.5 percent, volumes of industrial product manufacturing - to 12.1 percent, and production of agricultural products - to 6.1 percent.


Favourable investment climate and active implementation of programmes of modernization, technical and technological renewal of industry ensured expansion of capital expenditure into the economy up to 23.0 percent. Volume of foreign investments has significantly increased. The share of attracted foreign investments into the structure made up 83.0 percent.


As a result of adopted measures on economic liberalization and creation of favourable business climate the small business is rapidly developing and private sector of the economy is expanding. The share of private sector in the gross domestic product in 2007 reached 85.0 percent. Almost 80.0 percent of industrial production, whole volume of agricultural production and retail turnover is produced in the private sector.


Reforms in the village are under way, while farming enterprises have become main producers of agricultural production. The yielding capacity of main agricultural crops has significantly increased. At the same time processing of agricultural production is developing. Large network of market infrastructure participants, who provide necessary services to agricultural producers, has been created in regions. Over 200 agricultural firms on integrated processing of agricultural raw materials are carrying out their activity.


The food industry of Uzbekistan is based mainly on processing of local agricultural raw materials. This branch never gets too old and state of things in it always generates general interest, while its production enjoys wide and unchangeable popularity.


The very fact that Uzbekistan possesses considerable resources for processing of agricultural production and development of food industry, expands the horizons for development of the business.
