Thai and Chinese businessmen signed a contract to buy and sell two agricultural products from Thailand estimated at more than 13 billion baht.
Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej presided over the ceremony of contract signing between Thai and Chinese businessmen. After signing the contract, the Thai businessmen will sell three agricultural produces, including rubber, fresh longans, and rice to their Chinese counterparts. Rubber of 10,000 tonnes or about 9.2 billion baht will be sold to China for domestic consumption and export to the United States, the European Union, Australia, the Middle East, and Africa.
After the signing ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Mingkwan Saengsuwan will call a meeting of Thai and Chinese businessmen in Guangzhou as well as importers of Thai fruits and rice. The meeting is aimed at finding ways to stimulate trade and investment between Thailand and Guangzhou which is an important market of Thai agricultural products.
