A dairy producer from Darlington has been re-elected chairman of the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. During the board's annual reorganizational meeting, Jay Stauffacher was selected to lead the 25-member panel by his colleagues.
Stauffacher is co-owner of a 2,500-acre farm and milks about 500 Holsteins.
Committee appointments for Milk Marketing Board members include local representatives Mary Wackershauser, of Lancaster, and Judy Wubbenhorst, of Westby, to the Channel Management Committee, and Stacy Eberle, of Monroe, to the Communications Committee. Wackershauser also will serve as the Milk Marketing Board's representative to the Chicago Division of the Midwest Dairy Association.
The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board is funded by Wisconsin dairy producers, who in 1983 voted to establish a mandatory state milk marketing order to help affect demand for dairy products made from Wisconsin milk.
Increasing demand for Wisconsin's raw milk remains the board's goal. Because the majority of Wisconsin's raw milk is used to make cheese, the most effective way to accomplish this goal is to focus on marketing and promotion programs for Wisconsin Cheese.
