The Akbari brand name has been known for fruit growing in Iran for 23 years, they started to export to the Middle Eastern States 6 years ago. The company Beheshte Kochake Mive (BKM) Ltd. was established two years ago.
BKM has 40 HA of orange plantations in northern Iran and a further 50 HA for vegetable growing, cold stores and 7000m2 of greenhouses, which managing director, Mr Gholam Reza Akbari, personally oversees. From these locations, 50 km from Tehran, everything is exported to various Middle Eastern countries. The company also operates from the Tehran Central Fruit and Vegetable Market, where they have 7,000m2 of greenhouses and a warehouse/shop.
BKM produces many vegetables which include broccoli, leeks, asparagus, cauliflower, lettuce and peppers which are grown by themselves and also some on a contract basis for export to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, various fruit such as cherries, apricots, pears, peaches, plums and kiwi are sourced in Iran to add to the export. They also produce 1,500 tons of oranges for the domestic market which is complemented by imported mandarines, apples, grapes and garlic to the value of US$2,000,000. 80% of the export is done via air freight and the remainder is by road in refrigerated containers.
With domestic sales of 5 million US$ per year and exports worth 10 million US$ this year the company are well known amongst competitors in Middle Eastern countries for their high quality.
BKM are experienced in the import and export of fruit and vegetables and are looking to expand their markets to Europe and Russia.
