With the mercury rising, soft drink major Coca Cola is understood to be planning to expand its product portfolio in the fruit juice segment by lining up a new drink to be launched in the next two-three months.
According to industry sources, the new juice drink from Coca Cola would be competing with 'Tropicana 100%' from Pepsico's stable as well as Dabur's 'Real' and 'Activ'.
When contacted a Coca Cola spokesperson neither denied nor confirmed the development saying: "We are exploring a wide variety of new beverage opportunities; will get back to as our plans fructify."
Coca-Cola in India has a diverse portfolio that has been designed to satisfy the various mapped out need states of the consumers - be it hydration, energy, enjoyment or simply having fun, he added.
At present, the company sells fruit-based drinks under brand names like Minute Maid Pulpy Orange and Maaza as well as carbonated drinks like Thums Up and Coke.
The Indian fruit juice market is estimated to be around Rs 600 crore with main brands like Real and Activ from Dabur and Tropicana 100% from Pepsico.
