Reward yourself with Muskoka Brewery?ˉs Harvest Ale
Time:09 Sep 2015
Posted by

It?ˉs time to celebrate the end of the growing season and the gathering of mature crops from the fields with Muskoka Brewery?ˉs Harvest Ale.

Dry hopped and brewed using a selection of premium ingredients, Harvest Ale has a rich malt backbone and a subtle grassy character reminiscent of the freshly cut harvest.

This year Muskoka Brewery has opted to provide Harvest Ale in their reusable 341-millitres bottles, as a six-pack, instead of the traditional 750 ml format.

?°In response to requests from our loyal Muskoka fans we have switched our Harvest Ale from a 750-ml bottle to six 341-ml,?± said Gary McMullen, president and founder of Muskoka Brewery. ?°This allows for individual enjoyment of our fall seasonal and the ability to easily share with friends or family.?±

Brewed with fresh flavours Harvest Ale has the ability to pair well with a wide variety of dishes.

?°Harvest Ale has some nice, deep malts and a natural hoppiness that cuts through spicy flavours and accents medium to hot curry chicken or chicken korma extremely well,?± said McMullen.

Specialty beers are now being enjoyed like a fine wine. With the intricacies, attention to detail and variety of styles, food connoisseurs and wine drinkers are starting to get intrigued by craft beer offerings.

?°Ten years ago people weren?ˉt sitting around talking about the nuances of a beer. We design our specialty beers to do just that, get people thinking and talking about beer differently,?± said McMullen.

Harvest Ale is available in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick. It will also be available in the U.S. for the first time this year, in New York State.

Harvest Ale food pairings
Curry is a whirlwind of spices and flavours. The complexity of these dishes call for a sturdy beer that can cut through the heat and add to the dish. Muskoka Harvest Ale acts as an ideal companion to virtually any curry dish. The spicier, the better!

Blue Cheese:
Not for the faint of heart ¨C this is a bold pairing, but a rewarding one. Blue cheeses need a bold and well hopped beer to cleanse the palate. Muskoka?ˉs Harvest Ale is a great beer to match with this cheese as the intensity of the cheese increases.

Roasted Lamb:
This pairing is going to really depend on the spices used in preparation. If prepared with other big heavy flavours, lean towards Muskoka Harvest Ale. Excellent with rosemary, thyme and even mint!

Crab Cakes:
With crab cakes you want a beer that won?ˉt be overwhelmed by the sweet flavours of the crab. The match depends upon the spiciness of the crab cake and the sauce. Muskoka?ˉs Harvest Ale has a slightly sweet malt flavour and a predominant hop presence that will match the meat of the crab, but not overpower it. This is also a great pairing if the sauce has some spice to it.
