The extract from the Aloe vera leaf has been used for centuries as a topical remedy for minor burns, cuts, and other skin irritations. Taken internally, Aloe juice or encapsulated powder is used as a laxative. Some of the sugar compounds found in Aloe have been promoted as immune system stimulants, although the data in this regard is limited.
