| Chitin oligosaccharide is produced by hydrolysis of chitin that has been refined from crab and shrimp shells. Structurally, it is an oligosaccharide that takes the form of several N-acetylglucosamine molecules linked together, and for this reason it is also known as oligo-N-acetylglucosamine".
Chitin oligosaccharide is a milky white powder with about one-third the sweetness of sucrose. It is recognized as having many biological functions, and its diverse properties make it useful in a wide range of applications. Examples of its properties and uses include (1) low digestibility (useful for slimming diets, controlling intestinal function); (2) promotion of Bifidus proliferation (good for controlling intestinal function);(3) property of increasing hyaluronic acid (useful for beauty applications); and (4) immunity-boosting action (useful for preventing colds and cancer). |
