One of the three largest chocolate manufactures of the Southern Hemisphere, Chocolates Garoto has a high technology industrial plant installed in Vila Velha, Municipality located in the surroundings of Vitória, Capital of the State of Espírito Santo, Brazil. This is a complex with two industrial units totaling 68 thousand square meters of building inside an area of 200 thousand square meters. The plants have a production capacity of 140 thousand tones per year of chocolate, in a working system of three production shifts.
The investment in technology is a constant policy of Garoto, which, during the last five years, has applied R$ 75 million in the updating and expansion of its industrial park. From this total, R$ 25 million were destined to the building of the greater and most advanced vertical warehousing center of Latin America, the Espírito Santo Distribution Center (CDES).
With an automated operation structure, totally closed and with dimensions of 120 meters long, 31,25 meters wide and 23,85 meters high (equivalent to an 8 floor building), the CDES can store 12,100 pallets (wooden bases which support the piled cardboard boxes) in ideal conditions of humidity and temperature.
CDES has granted the economy and speed which are mandatory for the large seasonal demands, such as Easter and Christmas, and its automation also allows the shipment within the FIFO system (First in, First out), assuring a higher integrity of the products when they reach the end customer.
During the last few years, Garoto has invested in the increased production of chocolates, especially the bonbon line and development of new products. During the last few years, a production line of hydrogenated coatings was acquired and 12 brand new products were launched. The Pilot Plan operation, with the acquisition of exclusive equipment for the test of new products, has added cost effectiveness and reliability to the production process, reducing the production line stoppages for purposes of test conduction. |
