Function and Application
Lutein & Zeaxanthin are powerful antioxidants found in many plants and vegetables, including red peppers and cabbages, they present most abundantly in marigold flowers.
Lutein & Zeaxanthin are yellow pigments belong to the carotenoid family. Although they are not categorized as a vitamin, dietary Lutein & Zeanxanthin are believed to be essential nutrients for normal vision.
Lutein & Zeaxanthin can lower the risk of age related vision loss called advanced macular degeneration (AMD) by protecting the retina from damage of the photo-oxidative affect of blue light.
Lutein & Zeaxanthin can reduce the oxidation of LDL cholesterol thereby reducing the risk of artery clogging. Lutein can also reduce the risk of skin cancer and sunburn against the damaging effects of UV-B radiation.
