The cherries are rich in various vitamins and mineral substances. The amount of vitamin C is from 5 up to 30 mg%, P-active substances - from 300 up to 2500, carotene - from 0,1 up to 0,3, vitamins Е -1, В1 - 0,03 and В2 - 0.04 mg%. The protein content in berries is 0,8 %, carbohydrates represented mainly by easily assimilated glucose and fructose is from 6 up to 21, the amount of organic acids is from 0,4 up to 2,9 %, and the content of sugars and sour organic acids determines the taste of cherry fruits, pectin substances -natural activators of digestive juices secretion are 0,4%. In 100 g of cherry fruits is contained 20 mg of natrium salts, 256 mg of potassium, 37 mg of calcium, 26 mg of magnesium, 30 mg of phosphorum, 1-3 mg of iron, 1 mg copper, up to 0.3 mg of zinc and 0,01 mg of molybdenum.

The medical properties of cherries are high. They contain blood generating microelements: the iron, copper, cobalt, which allows using them against anemia. Pectin substances provide the evacuation of nitrogen slags from organism. The cherry pulp contains bactericidal substances. The fruits are used as broth at arthritis, and also as easy laxative. They satisfy the thirst and raise the appetite.
