Quality characteristics
- The leaf of Flandria leeks must be dark green.
- The white part of the stem may not be bumpy.
- The product may not be damaged when processed.
- The shape is completely straight.
- The roots are either cut off without damaging the root plate
(without roots) or cut off very evenly (with awl).
- Minimum shaft length of the "white" is 15 cm (10 cm for young leeks, 6 cm at the start).
- Minimum leaf length = 20 cm (25 cm in bundles).
Storage life
Leeks are best kept at a temperature of 2 to 3 and at a relative humidity of 90 - 95%.
Grades
Autumn and winter leeks
Loose: without a root: 2 - 3 cm, 3 - 4 cm, + 4 cm
with awl: 2 - 3 cm, 3 - 4 cm
Bundles: flat: + 1500 g/ 5 leeks (only with awl), + 1300 g, + 1100 g
round: + 900 g, + 700 g, + 100 g
Bags: 3 kg / 5 kg
Young leeks (until mid August)
Round bundles: 15, 20 or 25 bundles per crate.
+ 500, + 700, + 900 or + 1,000 g
Flat bundles: + 900, + 1,100, + 1,300 g
Loose: 2 - 3 cm, 3 - 4 cm, 2 - 4 cm
