L'île du Jura fait face à l'île d'Islay. Outre une distillerie qui produit un single malt non tourbé, elle a été baptisée l'île aux cerfs.Longtemps on a pensé que l’eau de Jura possédait un pouvoir mystique, voire serait un élixir de jouvence. Les insulaires sont en effet réputés pour leur longévité. Un homme aurait même vécu 180 Noëls sur l’île. Qu’il s’agisse là d’un fait, d’une rumeur, d’un mythe ou d’une légende, il n’en demeure pas moins que les habitants de l’île maîtrisent les processus de vieillissement, du moins en ce qui concerne le whisky !
