Made from 100% chardonnay sourced only from the very best vines in the Grand Cru vineyards of the Côte des Blancs, including Avize, Le Mesnil sur Oger, Oger and Chouilly. Taittinger only produce this cuvée when the year's harvest is of exceptional quality, and they exclusively use the wine taken from the first pressing as a means of ensuring quality and character. 4.5% of its component wines are aged for 4 months in new oak barrels, and the final champagne is only released after it has aged slowly and patiently in Taittinger's cellars - The Crayères (chalk pits) of Saint Nicaise.
Always elegant, Taittinger's Comtes Blanc de Blancs has achieved an even greater level of mineral purity and complexity in 04, striking the perfect balance of delicacy, intensity and freshness. Although it provides immensely gratifying drinking right now, everything is in place for this wine to embark upon the almost miraculous journey of in-bottle development that characterises Taittinger's Comtes.
