West Africa and
Central Africa . The
seeds of the plant are used as a
herbal supplement for their
5-Hydroxytryptophan content. 5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is an amino acid that is the intermediate step between tryptophan and the important brain chemical serotonin. Thus 5-HTP is widely used on diseases treatment cause by the lack of serotonin in human’s brain.
