Appearance:: The Mackerel is blue above and silver below. It has a pointed head, with a large mouth, and a thick, narrow body. The teeth are tiny, and the food is eaten whole.

Mackerel is a pelagic, rapidly swimming fish, which swim in huge schools near the surface. The Mackerel live primarily on small Cod and Herring. Significant quantities of Mackerel spend the winter at the bottom of the north part of the North Sea, Skagerrak and west of Great Britain.
