At Mississippi Lime, our calcium oxide (CaO), or commonly referred to as quicklime, is a high calcium content derivative of our 98.5% pure calcium carbonate (limestone). Calcium oxide is produced by heating calcium carbonate to 2000 deg F where carbon dioxide disassociates as a gas from the calcium carbonate:
Calcium Carbonate + Heat = Calcium Oxide + Carbon Dioxide
{CaCO3} = {CaO} + {CO2}
Calcium oxide can be utilized in a variety of applications because of its physical and chemical qualities. Mississippi Lime's calcium oxide product families and description are shown below:
Standard Quicklime is produced and sold in several sizes ranging from " to 2".
Pulverized Quicklime is available in both a treated and untreated form for use in glass, fiberglass, and steel industries.
VitaCal O Calcium Oxide is a very high purity calcium oxide used in both the chemical and food industries.
MicroCal O Calcium Oxide can be applied into a wide variety of chemical manufacturing applications where purity and reactivity are important.
PetroCal O Calcium Oxide is designed to meet the exacting requirements of the petroleum additives industry.
PolyCal O Calcium Oxide is produced for the Rubber and Plastics Industries where tight sizing and reactivity control are essential.
ThermoCal O Calcium Oxide is a product having unique heat generation characteristics.
