The Federation of Cooperatives of the Verapaces (FEDECOVERA) is an independent organization consisting of thirty-six top-quality cooperatives made up of 60,000 people. We also support and assist 80,000 small farmers organized into thirty-three groups. Our entire membership are indigenous Maya, primarily Q'eqchi' and Pocomchi. The primary economic activity of these people are Sustainable Forestry Development and the cultivation of the highest quality Coffee, Cardamom, and Black Tea.
FEDECOVERA was founded in 1976 and is legally registered as a second level cooperative organization. We are proud of the work we have done for the last 30 years helping to provide a better life for the indigenous peoples of Guatemala.
