l Good set retarding agent in concrete admixture
Sodium gluconate is also a highly efficient set retarder and a good plasticizer/ water reducer for concrete, mortar and gypsum.
By adding reducing agent, the water to cement ratio (W / C) can be reduced. When Sodium gluconate is added, then it will get below effect:
1, enhance the workability. As the ratio of water to cement (W / C) remain same, adding sodium gluconate can enhance workability. At this time, sodium gluconate is working as a plasticizer. When adding sodium gluconate less than 0.1%, the effect of the workability will be better as the adding quantity of sodium gluconate becoming more.
2, Enhancing the strength of the cement. when the concrete content is kept constant and the water content can be reduced (i.e., W / C lower). When the amount of sodium gluconate was 0.1% adding into cement, the amount of water can be reduced by 10%.
3, reducing the amount of water and cement with the ratio to reduce the cement content, W / C ratio is kept constant. In this case, the reduction agent is sodium gluconate as cement.
