Cary's of Oregon officially opened our doors to business, but the story began long ago
Cary married his high school sweetheart, Jan and they had 3 lovely daughters. Being a family that enjoyed cooking together Jan's grandfather gave Cary a marble slab and his much loved recipe for English Toffee.
As the years passed making toffee became part of the family's holiday fun-stirring, spreading, sprinkling and of course sharing! The recipe evolved into a very unique and delicious candy and family, friends and co-workers started begging for more. No longer just a Christmas treat, it had become a year-round favorite and the dream of Cary's of Oregon started to become a reality.
Cary's profession as a mechanical engineer came in handy-what machinery would be necessary and could he build some of it himself? What a wonderful challenge!
Four years after opening, the company was able to move to a larger, more functional location where we produce our "soft-crunch" toffee daily. Much of the candy making is still done by hand and each batch is made with top quality ingredients. Creamery butter, sugar, chocolate fit for a King and beautifully toasted nuts. We now offer 8 different flavors and some specialty items. People visit us from all over the country and the consensus seems to be, once you've tasted Cary's there's no going back!
Christmas is the busiest time of the year with the production of candy often overflowing into more than one shift. Between our wholesale, retail and corporate customers Cary's of Oregon has become the "gift of choice" and we are very grateful for that.
