The Sorptomatic 1990 is a complete computerized instrument based on a static volumetric principle to characterize solid samples by the technique of gas adsorption. Being completely made of stainless steel, it can use a wide range of gases (inert and corrosive) to enlarge the investigation possibilities on the solid state, matching the increasing necessities of the researchers. The "brain" of the Sorptomatic 1990 is a powerful microprocessor controlling and monitoring all the phases during both the analysis and the sample pre-treatment.

Sorptomatic 1990 for:

Physisorption measurements to determine the specific surface area and mesopore size distribution in porous materials by using inert gases such as nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, etc.

Microporous materials. In this configuration, the Sorptomatic 1990 has a powerfull turbomolecular vacuum pump to assure the correct vacuum degree in the sample holder during pre-treatment and before analysis start. It features also an additional pressure transducer to measure very low equilibrium pressures with a suitable precision to properly characterize micropore size and volume.

Krypton measurements. In case of non-porous materials kripton is commonly used as measuring gas, the physisorption isotherm shows a maximun pressure of approx. 2 torr. It is therefore necessary to enable the Sorptomatic 1990 to collect equilibrium pressures in a very low and restricted pressure range.

Chemisorption measurements on activated solids like catalyst or acid/basic materials (as zeolites) using reactive gases (such as hydrogen, carbon monoxide or oxygen) or corrosive gases (such as gaseous dry ammonia).
