The rinds of the  fruits of Garcinia  cambogia is extracted to obtain  an enhanced Hydroxy Citric  Acid  (HCA)  content.  Garcinia  is traditionally   used   in  various  cuisines  in  South  India.

HCA is an inhibitor  of ATP citrate  lyase, an enzyme that  facilitates the  production of fatty acid during the  Kreb’s Cycle. Thus Garcinia extract  helps  in the  inhibition  of lipogenesis, and  hence promotes weight  loss.
