In 1784 the Bishop E. Antonio de San Miguel arrived in Valladolid. He soon became familiar with the various dishes of the region, among others, fruit "cajetas" which later became known as "Ates", and an exellent assortment of desserts. He encouraged the people who made these delicious treats to increase production.
Today in Morelia, Ates, Jaleas, Laminilla and Flanes are still made with the same love and care that our ancestors had. La Estrella has preseved for you this sweet candy tradition.
La Estrella was founded in 1935 by Don Fernando Torres Villicaña. This was the beginning of the candy industry in Morelia. We have preserved the tradition and maintained the quality of our regional candy.
