From the fields, the hand picked ripe tomatoes are transported to one of 20 processing plants (as of summer, 2005, located in Xinjiang, Gansu and Inner Mongolia of P.R.China) of Chalkis Company. The factories were installed with FMC and ROSSI & CATTLI modern equipments, which will offer customers high quality products. Each plant has been built to exceed the rigorous requirements of world health organizations and large multinational food companies. All production methods exceed those of most major U.S., European and Japanese food manufacturers. An annual production volume of over 500,000 metric tons (1.1 billion pounds) of tomato paste is available to buyers throughout the world.
