 What is konjac ?

Konjac is a kind of plant that can live upto 3 years long. It mostly grows in the Southwest China mountainous regionKonjac plant has a very nice flower and fruit. The konjac root (tube) is rich of glucomannan fiber, and 40-60% dried konjac root is glucomannan fiber.

What is the function of konjac flour? 

1.Thickener.

Konjac flour can be used as a thickener for smooth gravies, sauces, glazes, soups, stews and casseroles. It is also a thickener in pies, puddings, custards and cake fillings. This naturally odorless, vegetable powder is also gluten-free, making it the perfect substitute in cooking and baking when flour and other glutinous starches must be avoided.

Konjac glucomannan powder is derived from the roots of the konjac plant. It is a soluble dietary fiber that is similar to pectin in structure and function. Glucomannan powder can be used to aid weight loss since it is a soluble fiber that creates a feeling of fullness so you end up eating less and losing weight. Glucomannan powder has also been shown to contribute to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels.
