Mustard Seed is the ripe seed of Sinapis alba L. or Brassica juncea (L.) Czern. et Coss. (Fam. Cruciferae).The former is known as Bai Jiezi (Semen Sinapis Albae).The latter is known as Huang Jiezi (Semen Brassicae Junceae).The plant is cut up in late summer and early autumn when the fruit is ripe, and dried in the sun.The drug is tapped out and removed from foreign matter.

Usage:

1.  Mustard seeds are rich in Selenium and Magnesium. Selenium help reduce the severity of asthma, decrease some of the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, and help prevent cancer.

2.  Eating soaked mustard seeds on regular basis reduces risk of cancers of the gastrointestinal tract and that of colorectal.

3.  Mustard stimulates the appetite by increasing salivation by up to eight times.

4.  Mustard seed extract also has laxative,digestive and circulative stimulant properties. Since ancient times, mustard is used as purgative.

5.  Mustard seed extract is used to produce vomiting in the case of accidental poisoning. Mustard oil has anti-septic and antifungal properties.
