PFAD (Palm Fatty Acid Distillate) is the byproduct of crude palm oil after refining. PFAD is used in many industries such as laundry soap, animal feed industries and also as raw material for the oleo chemical industry. PFAD is also often considered as a valuable and low cost raw material for bio-diesel production. It is composed of free fatty acids which are oleic, stearic and palmitic.

PFAD is a light brown semi-solid at room temperature melting to a brown liquid on heating.
