People consider that Plavac is the king of RED WINEs in Croatia. It grows only in the Middle and South Dalmatia. It has came into existance by crossing two sorts. The first one is famous as Crljenak from Kastela and it's identical to Californian sort called Zinfandel and to Italian Primitivo. The other sort is Dobricic. Both of them grow only in Dalmatia. The sort is adapted to well Mediterranean climate and miserly ground. Plavac varies from 4.000 till 15.000 kilos per hectar. Alcohol is very high, from 12 % till 13.5%. They are medium sweet because of connection of high alcohol, tanin and small dose of suggar.
