Kallam Brahmans is situated just out of Echuca in Northern Victoria in Southern Australia and is owned and operated by Malcolm and Jane Boys and their children Neil and Isabella.
The stud was established in 1998 with the purchase of a Mt Callan cow with heifer calf at foot. Since our early beginnings we have grown the stud to its present day with genetics from all over the world. We now have something to suit even the most discerning of buyers. Our cows have been selected to be early maturing, with good type and muscling ability, and most importantly to have a good temperament. We have both Red and Grey animals with a percentage of mottles and a percentage of Polls (no horns) .
We started exporting in 2007 after receiving an enquiry for embryos from New Zealand. We are still exporting embryos to New Zealand along with semen from our Poll red sire Kallam Sam Newman (Newman) , we are also exporting semen to Malaysia. We have seen the opportunities available to us with exporting and are currently enjoying growing our business to meet new and exciting demands.
Whilst continuing to develop our export markets we have seen continued demand for our animals on the domestic market as our clients see the advantages of brahmans and their adapability to drought conditions. Southern Australia is currently experiencing the worst drought on record and our brahmans are still producing and performing well in these adverse conditions.
The brahman stud compliments the rest of our business which encompasses a stud jersey dairy herd, Artificial Insemination training school and our Embryo Transplant work. It is our vision to be able to collect all embryos for export on farm in our own AQIS approved export collection centre.
