Acquisition of facilities to Estansan Co.
In 1940, Mr. Victor Henriquez Solar-a well-established grape grower-acquired the rights of the winery, incorporating it to his vast vineyards, inherited from his ancestors. ?
Maule Valley is located in the southern area of the well-known Central Valley of Chile. This is the most extensive wine region in Chile, as well as the most traditional area, dating back to XVII century.
Soils are generally of alluvial and volcanic origin.
This is the valley with the widest diversity on weather conditions among its different areas, and this particularity added to great variety of soils, generates unique and singular spectrum of terroirs. ?As consequence most of vinification grapes and varieties could be grown here with optimum results. Rationalisation of varieties is another factor favoured from its geographical condition. It is important to point out the substantial shift of many traditional producers of bulk wines towards quality and bottle fine wines. This is primarily the result of an intense replacement of the grape variety Pais with the nobler Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and the already well know Carmenere.
Clouds:
The climate of this region is Mediterranean sub-humid, with a rainy period concentrated during wintertime (from May to September) with an annual average of rains of 730 mm. After this season, a very dry and long summer is followed.
Thermometer:
The thermic regime characterises of this valley is the wide thermic amplitude (15oC to18oC) and moderated maximums during the ripening season. This allows the production of grapes with great concentration of colour, aromas and flavours.
