MALAYSIA'S MARRYBROWN TO OPEN MORE FAST FOOD OUTLETS OVERSEAS
KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 Asia Pulse - Marrybrown Fried Chicken Sdn Bhd, a homegrown international fast food chain, plans to expand to 56 Muslim countries within the next 10 to 15 years.
"We expect 70 per cent of the countries targeted to be in Europe, the Middle East and Africa," its president and group chief executive officer Lawrence Liew told Bernama.
Currently, Marrybrown operates over 250 restaurants worldwide, with a presence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Liew said Marrybrown was also on track to tap the market in Tanzania with the opening of a restaurant in the African country by the end of this month.
"The new outlet will cost RM3 million (US$937,500) and we plan to open six more," he said.
The company was in discussions at the moment to launch new restaurants in Syria and Iran, Liew said.
"We have identified four locations in Iran and two in Syria. We expect the restaurants to be operational by next year," he said.
To further strengthen its foothold locally, Marrybrown has identified five strategic locations for new outlets this year with an investment of about RM500,000 each, Liew said.
The new outlets are at the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) Kuala Lumpur, TF Value-Mart in Sungai Siput, Kip Mart in Kota Tinggi, Today Market in Ulu Tiram and also in Tangkak, he said.
The company Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding to appoint the ANS group of companies as a master franchisee to launch the first Marrybrown restaurant in Azerbaijan.
