This red variety is certainly the oldest and most widely planted variety in South Africa. The grapes originate from Paardeberg with its deep, yellowish brown gravelly soil and is harvested beginning to mid March. Only the healthiest grapes are selected and fermented in tanks until dry. The wine is then racked, the skins are pressed and malolactic fermentation is completed. The wine is then matured with 60% American and 40% French Oak for twelve months. Boland Kelder brings you a well-rounded wine with complex Flavours of blackcurrant fruit and herbs which are well-balanced with the tannins and soft oak flavours.
