History
The company Fornai is located within the RIBOBOLI farm in the area between Castelfiorentino and Cambiano. The name "Tenuta Riboboli" comes from a small stream that ran through the entire area. This river was enlarged in 400 to reclaim the marshy area of granocchiaia, thus becoming fertile soil suitable for cultivation. This is the reason for which it was given the name of the farm (or seal). The oldest historical traces of the farm are contained within a deed of 400, a copy of which can be read on the wall at the Fornai Ltd. "RIBOBOLI" is the name found within this document to indicate the land crossed by the river, and in 1425 it was bought for the cultivation of cereals and grapes.
In the 30s CESARE FORNAI, sharecropper of Gambassi, buy the farm Riboboli by the Marquis Pucci, former owners of the farm in Cambiano, thus becoming, many years later, the landowner. In those years commencing an agricultural activity of our company that is based primarily on the production of wine. Today, thanks to the enormous sacrifices made in the early years of the winery, we can consider the FORNAI SRL a showpiece of traditional Tuscan winemaking.
The Production
The wines produced by Fornai have both an ancient tradition that combines the values of the land to the richness of its flavors, a MODERN SYSTEM OF VINIFICATION and bottling allowing it to maintain the organoleptic characteristics of wine, going to meet the most particular needs of the customers and its most innovative wine tastes. In the cellar of recent construction we make use of Winemaking at controlled temperature and centrifugation of musts and young wines to enhance the flavor and fragrance of Tuscan wine and avoid the unwanted odors and flavors.
Thanks to our engineers in the cellar we can maintain a constant degree of upgrading in respect of the latest winemaking techniques. The high level of competition that characterizes the area of Chianti Tuscan warrant a continuous business improvement.
Our primary focus is based on both the aforementioned update of the production chain than from a communication and transmission of common values ??that characterize the age-old Tuscan wine tradition at the national level and, above all, in the world.
The distribution
Our wines are adapted to the different needs of customers and combine with multiple dishes at the table. In Italy, the Fornai Ltd is especially concentrated in distributing its products in the niche market surrounding its production area.
The greater distribution of wines from our cellar is focused abroad. In recent years we have created an extensive network of buyers and clients from all over the world. The main countries to which we supply our products are the United States, Brazil, China, Japan, Russia and Israel.
