2022 ZHEJIANG AGRI-FOOD ONLINE EXPO(Middle East and Africa) Online Business Matching Report

From August 15 to 21, 2022 ZHEJIANG AGRI-FOOD ONLINE EXPO (Middle East and Africa) was held for a week of online matching and negotiation.

The 7-days online matching service brought targeted promotion, professional buyers and the expansion of its brand and products for suppliers from Zhejiang Province, China.

There are more than 65 high-quality suppliers from Zhejiang Province, attracting 21,423 visitors from 123 countries. During 7 days, the number of supply and demand matching exceeded 778 times.

Compared with 2021 edition, the number of visitors and the number of inquiries have increased significantly, by 20% (up 3,577) and 184% (up 505) respectively.Compared with 21Food Online Expo(4TH), the number of inquiries has also increased by 83%.

2022 ZHEJIANG AGRI-FOOD ONLINE EXPO(Middle East and Africa) has the highlight in displaying, eliminating the original partitions and presenting  products directly on the home page.

After login the website, visitor can directly view pictures and short introduction of product. If they see interested products, they can click into the store and communicate with the supplier online or leave a message to ask for quotation. While searching for products, visitor can be more intuitive and efficient with a convenient user interface.

During 7 days, more than 1,200 agricultural products were displayed, including tea, honey, aquatic products, canned food, fruit sac, collagen, edible fungi, fruits and vegetables and etc.

Over 21423 visitors were attracted in 7 days. 94% of them were international visitor, 20,103. Among them, there were 5623 visitors from Africa, accounting for 26% of the international visitors; there were 6324 visitors from Asia (excluding China).

It can be obviously seen that there is 55% of audience coming from the Middle East and Africa region.

The total number of visitors to the online centralized matching and negotiation was 21,423, of which the number of visits to the website on the first day was 8,503. The peak period was from the first day to the third day, reaching 20,940 visits in just the first three days, and the growth speed of visits stabilized from August 15 to 21.

A new matching mode - Video Matching - was adopted to help suppliers and buyers better establish contact and reach cooperation intentions. Compared with the previous model, this time, through WhatsApp, Zoom, Skype and other software, private matching groups were set up, so that suppliers and buyers could understand the information of both sides in real time and improve the matching accuracy to the greatest extent.

In 2021 ZHEJIANG AGRI-FOOD ONLINE EXPO(Middle East and Africa), there may be delays in the communication and response process between the two parties, resulting in easy loss of precise buyers subsequently. However, online video matching solves and improves this problem by providing a platform for real-time conversations. During the matching period, both parties can directly "face to face" each other without any communication delays.

On the one hand, when buyer has questions about the product, the supplier can answer them opportunely; on the other hand, video matching service can help supplier avoid fake buyer. At the same time, face-to-face communication will help both sides build long-term relation and promote further cooperation in future. In early July, we conducted a one-month intensive advertising campaign on social media platforms such as Link and Facebook, as well as on Google, with a total of more than 300,000 displays on social media. Before the official opening, more than 10,300 people had already registered and booked visits.

During promotional period, the exclusive promotional videos for some of suppliers were posted on Facebook, TikTok, Twitter and other social media platforms to warm up in advance.
